Music Journalist – Presenter – Music Editor – Online Producer – Events Coordinator – Blogger – Music Enthusiast

To me, no matter how cheesy it sounds, music is something that can express things that words can’t. There’s always a song that relates to the way you feel at every moment in your life. Music can move you emotionally, in ways that words wouldn’t be able to.

Through the success of my blog (www.xoTashaa.tk), I (alongside Emily Falconer) created Spotlyte TV which is a YouTube channel where we used to interview up-and-coming UK artists. We worked with everyone in the scene from Skepta and Janiece Myers, to Griminal, Ghetts and Kozzie. We also worked really closely with the MOBO Tour in 2010 interviewing all of the artists on the line-up.

We then developed Spotlyte TV into a live music event called, ‘Spotlyte Sessions’ and on our road-block launch night 14 unsigned artists including Fem Fel, Cleo Sol, Durrty Goodz, Dru Blu and Shani Cuppcake hit the stage.

#SOUNDCHECK was the next venture in which we collaborated with Q to raise money for the very worthy cause that is Oxfam. This event was another road block which had a lot of press coverage (for example the Independent Newspaper and Flavour Magazine) and saw amazing artists such as Encore, Josh Osho, Saskilla, Amplify Dot, Luke Bingham and many more artists perform.

I have also been a presenter for MOBO TV since April 2011 and this includes presenting the MOBO TV Interviews and Acoustic sessions as well as reporting at the MOBO Awards Backstage and on the Red Carpet. I have worked with a huge range of artists through the MOBO’s including Boys II Men, Bluey Robinson, Mz Bratt, Roll Deep, Chipmunk, Jason Derulo, Mann, Professor Green, Wretch 32 and many, many more.

Over the last year I have had various work experience at radio companies, on set at MTV, in PR, at Jump Off TV and much more. I am very excited to carry on my journey and see where I end up.

xo :)

  1. Hey, I am interested in becoming a music journalist particularly in the fields of ‘urban’ music. How did you start out and what qualifications did you get? Thanks!
